I remember the first time I had my mom try my blondies. Sometimes, she is skeptical of the vegan desserts I make, thinking it might taste as good as regular desserts. I did not tell her it had chickpeas in them because she claims she hates chickpeas. After she ate one, she said "wow, these are actually really good." That is when I told her, "Ah ha! They contain chickpeas!" She never could taste the chickpeas in these brownies. Not only do these blondies satisfy that sweet tooth craving, they are actually good for you too! The hidden chickpeas that you cannot even taste, give you that extra boost in fiber and protein. Yet, the dark chocolate chips and and sweetener gives its sweet flavor. I have been obsessed using date syrup as my choice of sweetener for my desserts. Dates are high in fiber and antioxidants. Specifically, one of the antioxidants, flavonoids, can help to reduce inflammation. Dates are an excellent natural sweetener, containing fructose, which is a natural type of sugar found in fruit.  Other sweeteners you can try are maple syrup, agave syrup or honey (if not vegan). Try each sweetener out and see which tastes best for you! My chickpea blondies are always a big hit. My friends always request this treat for any type of gathering :)  And I must say, I might make these brownies at least 3 times a month because I am addicted and love them as a post workout snack. After a hard workout at the gym or a fast run in the morning, I love to eat one of my brownies right afterwards to give me that quick carbohydrate and protein mixture for replenishment!
