VEGAN PEANUT BUTTER CUPS

Dairy Free

No bake desserts

Vegan

Healthy treat

I absolutely love anything chocolate peanut butter. Growing up as a kid, Reeses have always been one of my favorite Halloween candies, especially the Reeses shapes. That peanut butter to chocolate ratio is to die to for. Since I have been vegan, unfortunately I do not eat Reeses anymore since they are not vegan. So, I decided I wanted to re-create one of my favorite chocolate candies. Making these peanut butter cups was super easy and minimal ingredients! This healthier version of a peanut butter cup still has that rich chocolatey taste to satisfy that sweet tooth craving.

What do I mean by a "healthier" version? If you are thinking lower calorie, you are wrong! These peanut butter cups actually contain about the same number of calories, ~210 kcals, compared to the Reeses peanut butter cup. Comparing carbohydrates and sugar, these peanut butter cups contain 17 grams carbohydrates with no added sugar to them versus the Reeeses containing 24 grams carbohydrates with 20 grams of added sugar. The main point I want to focus on though is comparing the amount of ingredients. Your typical Reeses cup contains 13 ingredients per package, compared to these peanut butter cups containing only 4 ingredients.  The longer the ingredients list is, the more processed it is. More preservatives are added to these processed foods to keep them more shelf stable. With less ingredients, these peanut butter cups are not only easy to make but still have that same rich chocolatey taste as a normal Reeses. I may be biased, but I think these PB cups taste way better than the store bought kind!  :p
